Independence Day Weekend

So, we had a fun, WORK-less, Independence Day weekend. SOO nice.
On Wednesday night we drove up to Chay's grandparent's cabin in Scoffield (thank you Chay and Brady) and spent the night up there. It was soo nice to just relax and hang out with the Wilkinson clan. Because our weekend was so fun-filled, I even made a slide show (below) to document all of the activities. So, if you really are interested in our lives (this is not a test), you can read about our weekend and then scroll down for visuals. (Kind of like a picture book with pictures at the end of the book).
We drove up with TJ and Kimberly, and Mike and Tiffany pulled the "Man's Trailer of Dreams" (a.k.a. four-wheeler, dirt bikes, etc.). The boys woke up in the morning and played on their "dirt toys", and the girls went on a Wun (walk/run) up the dirt road. Okay fine...the altitude was so unbearable that I think I didn't even WALK the trail. Then we came back and had "Girl Talk" for two hours until the boys came back. We spent the rest of the day there and then drove back to Provo so that we could get some rest for our early 5K race in the morning!

We woke up early on July 4th to go and run the Freedom 5K. My awesome Dad decided at the last minute that he wanted to join along in the "fun". And so, he ran with us! I am happy to say that I set the pace for my two running partners, and because of that...nobody was tired except for me! Haha. I am soon realizing that I am NOT a runner.
We thought it would be a good idea to drive the motorbike to the race (you know, miss the traffic/crowds). So, at 6:45AM we got pulled over by a BYU Police car! Seriously....only at BYU. He asked for Brandon's license and since we didn't have any pockets, Brandon said he didn't have it. I was about to pull out my camera (because, we can find room for a camera but not a license), but then Brandon reminded me that if the Cop saw my camera, he would ask where we stored it. Dang.
The race was fun though. I am especially grateful for my cute husband and cool dad that ran next to me the entire time. I thought they would leave me in their dust...but, I think they enjoyed the pace I set for them (i.e. 2 MPH). We were trying to meet up with Josie, but...she runs too fast. And, she has 3 kids. Amazing.

We drove up to Park City that day for another Wilkinson/Hull get-together and it was so much fun! Brandon's family rented a nice condo at the Mountainside Marriott (beautiful), so we ate with the family...and then got ready for the Oakley rodeo! The pictures below don't do Brandon's outfit justice. So I will just have to tell you. He had a belt-buckle that seriously was probably cut right out of an Oak tree. And, his John Deere shirt said, "I Got a Tractor for My Wife (best trade I ever made!)" Haha. We found my shirt from Cal-Ranch, and so I was the "Barn Princess"...we found it in the little girl's section...hence the reason why the shirt comes up above my belly-button.
The Rodeo was so much fun, especially just being with all of the family (His Grandmother, Aunt Shauna and family, and Uncle Chad and Aunt Amy and Kaden). The rodeo had a firework show afterwards, but I am pretty sure that it didn't hold a candle to the Stadium of Fire (which we didn't see). The best part was, after the fireworks show, they had a country dance! It was so much fun. Brandon and I don't really know much on how to do the 2-step, but we still had fun! We even started a line dance, and at least 10 other people joined in on it! I felt famous (Thanks to the EFY days of knowing all of the line dances :-).

We were all crammed in the condo, but it was like a big slumber party. Brandon and I slept on an air mattress that my dad brought us, but I definitely think it had a hole in it. Every 2 hours we were sleeping on the carpet (poor Brandon was over the cement fireplace!). So, all night I was praying for morning to come soon. I might as well just grabbed some rubber and put it on the floor to sleep on!

We woke up and went to the Outlets (where I am pretty sure the boys got burned out after 30 minutes!), and then spent the rest of the day at the pool. It was GREAT! And so relaxing. We played pool volleyball (which I love the rules, by the way...you can practically just hold the ball and then throw it :-). Tiff and I got out of the pool just in time. The boys were "launching" each other off of each other's shoulders (trust me, the Mama Bear in me was saying "This is soo dangerous!"), and TJ went up in the air and landed right on Mike's head. TJ got 7 stitches to the chin. Mike didn't even come out with a bruise.
So, we ate a yummy lunch and then drove back to Provo.

Back to the daily grind.

You guys always get to stay at the coolest places! I think I need some good hook-ups like that. Do I sound jealous because I am. :)

SO FUN!! And that belt buckle is seriously HOT!!!!!!!!! I have to say, I'm SUPER jealous that I don't have one too. Sounds like you guys had an awesome 4th of July. We went to the Oakly rodeo last year and it was one of my favorites. You should let us know the next rodeo you go to, and maybe we'll come too. We do love a good rodeo. :)

I love, love, love the explainations of your rodeo wear, you lack of sleeping on the blow up mattress (been there, done that!) and the shopping experience with the boys! Sounds like great fun!
